When we look back on 2023, it's important to remember that the world of cat and kitten rescue continues to evolve with our ever-changing times. There are no models or templates that can help us predict what the future holds for the precious lives we are committed to save.

As the horrors of the COVID pandemic slipped away from our collective memories, a new crisis presented itself: the number of cats and kittens needing forever homes far exceeded the number of available foster homes and prospective adopters. Understandably, following years of caution, people were hungry for travel and adventure, anxious to explore the world. Corporate downsizing combined with rising inflation led to an uncertain economy, which added to an already complex situation.

Additionally, as a result of the extreme reduction of Trap-Neuter-Return resources over the past years, the cat and kitten population continued to explode exponentially. The costs of veterinary services continued to rise, and spay/neuter resources became even more scarce as "low-cost" services either vanished completely or were over capacity.

With the help of loving, dedicated foster families along with our extraordinary cat and kitten rescue community, Purrific Rescue continues in our mission to save the lives of cats and kittens and place them in permanent loving homes. When foster families were at capacity, we continue to help the cats and kittens by supporting the community with our resources.

Purrific Rescue does not have corporate sponsors, grants, or a steady source of private donations. We are an approved and registered 501(c)(3) public non-profit, and your donation is deductible to the extent the IRS allows.

This year, we found loving homes for 64 cats/kittens and provided medical assistance for 30 privately owned and community free-roaming cats. Our hearts burst with gratitude for your generous donations and support.  Together, we have saved lives.
